The Catalina 42 has a stellar reputation for cruising performance in lots of comfort. It's an international leader in its racing class and has taken a lot of silver in club racing.
Our students as well as our charter clientele who enjoy participating in sailing are enthusiastic about her smart 'controls' pattern aimed at short-handed sailing. All halyards, the ball bearing mainsheet and the single line main reefing controls are very conveniently led to the cockpit to be operated from under the dodger, keeping things very simple.
The cockpit is large with seats that are 6’-8" long and big enough to stretch out on. The helm seat at the transom opens to allow access to a swim platform molded into the transom.
This is a great offshore boat, what with two heads and holding tanks, and wide weather decks made clear by inboard shroud base which make passage forward easy and secure.
The varnished teak and ash paneled cabins have excellent natural light and ventilation as well as numerous recessed halogen lights for ambiance.
